TSA Unveils New Executive Jet Security Rule
The announcement of the notice of
proposed rulemaking follows clearance by the office of Management
and Budget and requires operators of aircraft with a maximum
certified takeoff weight of more then 12,500 pounds to obtain and
implement TSA's large aircraft security program.
According to TSA, the proposed
rule requires:
- Crewmember criminal history
records checks and security threat assessments;
- Watch list matching of
passenger manifests;
- Basic aircraft security
procedures;
- Security training for
crewmembers;
- Designation of a security
coordinator by each aircraft operator
- Biennial third-party audits;
and
- New Security requirements
for reliever airports and others that server large business
aircraft.
