Increased Private Group Travel In A Post-Covid-19 World

Private Jet Services’ direct access to the largest fleet of Boeing aircraft in North America has given the aviation consultancy and charter company a leg-up on fielding group travel inquiries for 2021.

With holiday travel and 2021 planning on the horizon, Private Jet Services (PJS) predicts an increase in demand for VIP airliners, specifically for large group charters, amongst affluent personal and business travelers due to changes in travel brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite living in a world where global air traffic is down nearly 73% year-over-year, the private aviation industry remains on the uptick with industry professionals and news sources reporting substantial increases in business inquiries over the past 6 months.

While the industry is managing the increase in inquiries, PJS is taking note of its hospitality partners creating extended stay experiences for larger families and groups, as well as the Meetings and Incentives space navigating H2 2021 inquiries and bookings, with the anticipated arrival of a COVID vaccine. These large groups are beginning to compete at the same level with the already high demand for more intimate private travel.

People are turning to private charters and planning for extended stays at luxury resorts as alternative options to staying home as state and local COVID-19 regulations become more unpredictable. Holidays and school breaks have become 60-to-90 day second home alternatives. Entire wedding parties are relocating. In most cases, bookings for these groups exceed more than 18 passengers – increasing the need for VIP airliners rather than the small cabin and even large cabin executive jets.

Yet, while the demand is high, inventory of larger airliners is limited industry-wide and PJS CEO, Greg Raiff, emphasizes the importance of booking as far in advance as possible.

Outside of family gatherings and corporate events, PJS is also seeing major sporting teams gearing up for 2021 seasons, adding further to the urgency behind booking larger airliners.

As the world inches closer towards a potential COVID-19 vaccine, PJS predicts that this demand will only rise heading into 2021. Yet, while a vaccine may be in place, there will still be hesitation to travel commercially and large groups will opt for private travel where contact with members outside of their personal travel group is limited and more controlled.

In preparation for this demand, PJS is:

  • Continuing to work with partners to expand its fleet of VIP airliners, offering nine types of reliable aircrafts suitable for group travel, including the largest fleet of Boeings in North America
  • Soon revamping the PJS Membership program to include larger aircrafts and larger group travel options
  • Partnering with resorts and hospitality companies such as Viceroy Hotels & Resorts, Cuvee and ÃNI Private Resorts (ÀNI) to provide groups with safe and luxurious accommodations
